{"id":2409,"date":"2017-12-05T19:54:57","date_gmt":"2017-12-05T14:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.autofacets.com\/insights\/?p=2409"},"modified":"2022-01-20T18:31:06","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T13:01:06","slug":"vodafone-iot-division-wins-telematics-deal-with-uk-car-insurer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autofacets.com\/insights\/vodafone-iot-division-wins-telematics-deal-with-uk-car-insurer\/","title":{"rendered":"Vodafone IoT division wins telematics deal with UK car insurer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vodafone is providing telematics technology to support a usage-based insurance offering from UK company Admiral.<\/p>\n<p>The deal sees Vodafone supply hardware, connectivity, data management, crash analysis and safety-related services for the insurer\u2019s LittleBox solution.<\/p>\n<p>Vodafone has won the deal from Octo Telematics, European Communications understands.<\/p>\n<p>The LittleBox service, which launched in 2013, offers drivers discounted car insurance premiums based on an analysis of their driving behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>It collects driving data that the customer can access through a dashboard, which provides a driving score and offers hints to improve driving.<\/p>\n<p>LittleBox also offers detailed information on crashes to support Admiral\u2019s claims process for accidents.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, Vodafone will also be able to allow the insurer to offer new services, including a stolen vehicle recovery capability supported by a network of dedicated service centres across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Admiral said it had 200,000 customers using its telematics services, which are not limited to the little box.<\/p>\n<p>Vodafone Director of Automotive Gion Baker said: \u201cThe advantages of telematics technology is being felt well beyond the car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are seeing forward-thinking insurance companies like Admiral using it as a digital bridge to their customers allowing them to get closer to them and to better understand their needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vodafone revealed during its latest financial results that it had a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurocomms.com\/industry-news\/12708-vodafone-ups-full-year-ebitda-guidance-on-latest-financials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">market-leading 62 million IoT connections on 30 September.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month,\u00a0the operator unveiled its first consumer IoT play, which included V-Auto, a &#8220;plug and drive&#8221; dongle that features a find my car feature and calls the emergency services in the event of an accident.<\/p>\n<p>Read more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eurocomms.com\/features\/analysis\/12602-vodafone-s-annual-iot-barometer-points-to-a-lull-in-the-storm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vodafone\u2019s annual IoT Barometer points to a lull in the storm<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Courtesy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurocomms.com\/industry-news\/12745-vodafone-iot-division-wins-telematics-deal-with-uk-car-insurer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Communications\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vodafone is providing telematics technology to support a usage-based insurance offering from UK company Admiral.
